My Sewtastic Skills

I promised my friend Pam I would blog about this beauty. Let me begin by saying, I have never had any sort of experience sewing. My mother is left handed and always found it difficult to sew... so instead she is an incredible, master embroider, so I guess that makes up for it. My friend Pam invited us to make this bag with her. A "simple" project, we thought. There were moments while making this bag that I thought I would never sew again. There were so many sewing terms, that are probably simple to most who know anything about it, but for me they sounded like the words my Dad says in Japanese, just before a smirk draws up in the corner of his mouth.

My hesitation was more of a fear of destroying something I had spent so much time on rather than actually not being able to do it. I got some amazing fabric from a store in Preston Idaho called Suppose. If you have a chance you should definitely make the trip to see what they have. They have beautiful designer fabrics. I just want to buy everything when I go there, a little dangerous ladies. Anyway, now that I have finished and the insecurities have faded and I really want to do more sewing projects. I must say that Pam and Becky were instrumental in helping me accomplish this feat. I could not have done it without them. I think it turned out pretty great! I love the colors and the designs on the fabric. I love having a big purse to haul all of my stuff around. (most would call it crap, but I like to be prepared) Check it out! I feel so sewtastic for making this. I think I need to get myself a sewing machine. There are endless opportunities!

I added this flower pin to add some character to the outside of the bag.

Here is the whole bag

The inside of the bag is one of my favorite parts.. why? Because for the most part ill be the only one to witness the pretty fabric. Sounds a little selfish, but its the tiny details that I drool over.

  3. Very nice - You know, all you have to do is put an "order now" button under posts like this and eventually you'll start making sales. Want some help?
