'Tis the Season

This is officially the most busy month of my entire life. Busy, but great! There have already been a ton of great times and memories!

The weekend of the 4th through the 7th I was able to go out to Wisconsin to visit the Giles. It was a surprise for Tom, who had no idea Todd and Sue and I were coming out. The surprise was great, but the reason for the surprise was better. It has been a little over a year since Tom joined the church out in Madison, WI. It was an unforgettable process for all of us. Now, he had the opportunity on Saturday the 5th to go to the Chicago Temple to receive his endowment. I'm so grateful I was able to be there to feel of that wonderful Spirit with so many people I love.

Now, just this last Saturday I had an even greater experience with my wonderful fiance. We drove up to Logan on Friday and met up with Melissa and her family at Texas Roadhouse for a little dinner. In the morning we headed to the Logan Temple for Melissa's endowment. She is so wonderful, and I was so happy to be there with her. We were blessed that our family all made it through the canyon safely despite the weather.

After the Temple, we made our way through the nasty ol' canyon to Maddox in Brigham City. I, unwisely, ordered the T-bone... It was the biggest steak I have ever seen!! 24 oz.!! I was able to handle it that night, but it sure handled me the next day... whew.. I'm afraid it may have handled Melissa too. :) I sure love them all though. Everyone is so generous and so happy.

Part two of the family Christmas parties... The good ol' party at Tammy's house. I got dominated by Melissa in musical chairs. Don't let her fool you, she lasted a long time. Thankfully, Melissa didn't play the skittle game this year (and never again).

Now, on to the next stage of busy: the WEDDING!!

Extravaganzas of all sorts!

There are several parts to this weekend that i would like to address...

A. My first time going to the Temple!
The Temple! I got to go for the first time on Saturday! it was wonderful! We had some troubles getting everyone there... the sky decided to dump lots of pretty snowflakes on us... roads were bad.. driving even worse.. but we all made it there and it was amazing! So grateful for such wonderful friends and family!

B. Family Christmas Parties:
Now those of you who dont know my family here is a preface to this section.. Both sides.. LOVE to get together often! I am very grateful for this! its so fun to be close to your family! I really could not imagine not being as close as I am to them all! Anyway so ever since i was just a youngling we have been getting together for family Christmas parties. They are joyous occasions. Lots of GOOD food and even better company. and lots of funny traditions of course!
1. My Dads side of the family. Last year we started a tradition of going to Maddox up in Brigham City for a yummy yummy dinner.. (if you know me at all you will know what a carnivore i am.. lets just say.. a waiter once smirked at me and told me i shouldn't order a full rack of ribs, but rather go for the puny and pathetic completely unsatisfying 4th of a rack.. ya forget that... i got the full. ate the full. clean). anyway so my Grandpa Romriell is such an amazing guy! He buys us dinner and we all get to catch up and enjoy talking and laughing.. all listening to my dad and his brothers crack jokes.. classic dry humor! I love it! We all exchange gifts too! This year was particularly dangerous tho... we had to get through the massive snow dump to get to the restaurant! it was insane.. im just glad Steve drove and not me.. you wonder what all those snow blowers were doing taking a holiday on such a crazy snow day.. silly I say. But we all made it safe so hurrah!
2. My Moms side of the family has a Christmas shindig every year as well.. when we were young it used to be held at this really old church out in the middle of no where (i say this because i have no idea where the church is actually located. I'm pretty sure its somewhere fairly close but as children it takes a gazillion years to get anywhere so therefore.. in the middle of no where it will remain). These parties are great! Santa, talents, food, of course, Musical Chairs, white elephant gifts, even a pinata! oh and lets not forget lots of kids running around in circles driving all the adults insane.. such wonderful times! ask any of our mothers... Fond memories. Now days we all get together at my Aunt Tammys house. Still lots of fun! One of the traditions that still holds strong is our annual musical chairs.... I am a very competitive person. hate to lose. lost at musical chairs :( there's always next year.. ill win someday.

C. To end this horrendously long post i want to just say.... we get married in five days! It is about time! Cant wait! I love my Stephen! Merry Christmas!!!

The real story... the girl version.. all the good details included

Ok so here's the real story... the detailed girl version ;)
One warm Wednesday night in July of 2005 a good friend of mine invited me to go play night games with her and some neighborhood kids. I had been in one of those anti social moods lately so I wasn't particularly in the mood but I decided I needed to get out and have some fun. So i went. Little did i know i would be meeting the love of my life that night... oh woops did i ruin the surprise.. foil the punch line... so sorry anyway so we arrive at this event of sorts to play night games. After a very unsuccessful game of capture the flag (i wont go into details, i don't think my competitive nature could handle reliving the embarrassing nature of the loss) I finally was introduced to some of the kids that we were playing with.. one of which was a tall, very handsome boy names Steve. As I watched him, I became curious, interested if you will. I then overheard him talking to another lady.. giving her his number… oh dear… I couldn’t allow for the night to end without attempting to flatter him! So later on as Steve was heading towards his car, a beautiful shimmering golden grand prix... I took my opportunity… this was my chance.. As he walked by I casually put my hands on my hips and heartily shouted "sweet car!" (all I could think to say.. wow I was so lame!) It didn’t help that all he said in return was.. "hey thanks" but as he drove away.. Did I feel disheartened? no… discouraged? never!… in my heart of hearts I really thought to myself… ill be seeing him again

Special acknowledgments... To Heather Olsen... i love you girl! We owe you our first born child's name ;)

In the Beginning...

One summer night, under the light of a lone street lamp in Anywhere, UT, I prepared myself for an evening of fun I thought would be short lived. Little did I know, it would not be short lived. I was, in fact, short sighted. Two simple words, "sweet car." It was Heather Olsen's friend. The two of them played steam-roller on the parking strip under the lamp post. Heather introduced her as "Duey." Weird, I thought, but that's Heather for you. Then, as soon as it started, it ended....

The inner workings of my mind...or just a simple list?

I decided to start this blog for an assortment of reasons....

a. friends pestering little requests

b. my dad thinks i say funny things and thinks that i should document them

c. there's not really a third reason but you cant make a valid list of points and only have two.. just isn't credible enough.. not to mention it really isn't aesthetically pleasing to the eye without the third..

so there you have it my reasoning for this lovely blog
