Two Hundred Thousand

So I have reached a milestone.. literally. Well, it's actually my car. So back in 2006 during my senior year in high school I won a car! Yep won a car. It was sweet. I had my doubts about the wagonesque car that I always had despised and swore I'd never own. I realize now how much I love it! Its a Subaru Outback and It is amazing! I'm so happy with it. It had 143000 miles on it when I got it and the other day the mileage turned over 200000 miles! Can you believe it? I'm totally a number person. Love everything about strange numbers, dates, etc, so this was a big event for me haha as lame as that sounds. So Steve and I pulled over on some random dirt road and recorded it turning over and took some photos. I'm really sounding lame now. This car is amazing! Its been through a lot and is still running pretty great!
Look at that stud! Tucker is so cute! We just celebrated his first birthday on the 14th of September, I cannot believe how fast time has gone. I swear we were just here...
This little guy has been so much fun! I miss having Chris and Jenn here in Logan with us.  I didn't realize how hard it would be to say goodbye (even though they arent that far away) I had a few cry fests... But I have loved watching Tuck man grow up. It has made me more excited to be a mother myself. I have been terrified at the thought for so long, worried about my diabetes and the affects that has on pregnancy or just that I'd be terrible at it, or that I didn't have the patience. But I love little Tuck so much I just can't imagine how much a mother loves her own kids.

Anyway sorry for the mushy stuff. So we all went to Chris and Jenn's for the big party. It was so much fun. Tucker is a very particular and curious little boy. It was so funny watching him try and figure out what to do with the cake. He was not having any of this cake smashing in the face nonsense. It was all business. He just kept sticking his thumb in the hole where the candle had been.  His mom had to coax him into making a mess of himself. It was adorable. Anyway so Steve and I got Tucker a drum... I was worried about it because the drum sticks had strings attaching them to the drum. I called my mom to see what she thought.. I decided to leave it... Bad Idea? Yup... So they open it up and hand him the sticks, barely a moment passes and he starts trying to detach the sticks... then to my horror he starts crying. Poor guy. I knew I should have cut them off. Jenn ran and got scissors and the second they were off he was fine. It was hilarious! We also made him this shirt. I thought it was perfect for my little Tuck man.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TUCK MAN!

Just to prove a point...

So this may seem gross to some of you but this is my life. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes when I was 9 years old. Its been quite the challenge getting used to it, adapting to it... really a lot of different challenges. annnnyway.. So I find it frustrating that Insurance and everything is so dang hard to deal with... I have no choice, I have to live, meaning I have to spend tons of money on prescriptions.  (Luckily I have the most amazing parents in the world who have helped us out while we are poor) So the above picture is a collection of 355 blood test strips. Mainly just because I am lazy I stow these little babies inside my tester... gross I know but you know I don't really care.  So while in the process of getting insurance through Steve's new job we've been paying almost full price for all of my prescriptions... not fun... so each of these strips cost 1$ yes, each. This means this pile of strips cost roughly 355$ gag! Seriously this is probably about 2 months.. That sucks! Luckily our new insurance has kicked in. Good thing I had insurance for at least a year before, otherwise we would be hit with the whole "preexisting condition" crap. Seriously that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of! Its not like I can just choose not take my insulin, or test my blood, or go to the doctor. Come on people! Anyway enough of my rant, just thought that this was pretty crazy and that this picture is funny :)

Thank Goodness

Rarely do I (evets) post on this blog.  It has been months.  This weekend finally gave me something to post about.  I have been working at a youth treatment center here in Logan since early this year.  On average I have 7-8 students on my dorm.  We had a crazy, and very eventful weekend with many students breaking many rules.  That is to be expected.  But I started looking at some of the home lives (what little information I have) of my students, and it made me VERY grateful that I grew up in a home with a mother that loved me and cared enough about me to let me know when I did something wrong.  Not everyone is as fortunate as I was.  My mother was sober, hardworking, and did all she could to help us kids employ those same qualities as we grew up and went out into a society that would otherwise knock us down.  I am also grateful for other family members and friends that were willing to step forward and help out when situations required it.  The Church played a huge role in facilitating it all and I am SO thankful for my fortunate placement in this world.
